Sir Henry Augustus Montagu Cosby acquires Barnes Farm, developing it as Barnesville Park after his service in India.
- 1822
Following Cosby's death, the antiquarian George Ormerod purchases the estate and expands its grounds.
- 19thC
Ormerod commissions Robert Smirke — architect of the British Museum — to remodel the house, adding a colonnade, portico, and an extension to house Ormerod's library. Renamed Sedbury Park.

Sir William Henry Marling adds features including balustrades and a forecourt enclosure.

Converted into a hotel.

Operates as a school, then as a nursing home for approximately 30 years.
